Maryland Energy Administration Awards $7.4M Grant to SAFE Housing, Inc.

The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) has awarded a $7,358,854 grant to SAFE Housing, Inc. to support energy efficiency projects and activities benefiting low-to-moderate income Marylanders.

Funding from MEA’s Low-to-Moderate Income Energy Efficiency Grant program will fund energy audits, implementation of weatherizing measures and cost-effective upgrades to HVAC, appliances, and lighting throughout Maryland. Under this program, SAFE Housing, Inc. will also serve households that are not eligible for other energy efficiency grant programs due to health and safety concerns, such as mold and asbestos.

“We are pleased to receive this grant award to continue helping low-to-moderate income families across Maryland reduce their energy costs and improve the health and safety of their homes,” said SAFE Housing, Inc. Executive Director Andrea Everhart.

The Maryland Energy Administration will allocate a total of $16.5M under this grant program to nonprofit organizations and local governments across Maryland.
